Contract farms/Dehydration

Contract Farming
Katra Phytochem is completely focused on integrated value chain commencing with Non-GMO seed production and cultivation on a strict Integrated Pest Management (IPM) format and practices. The contract farming is a network of 5000 farmers over 6500 Acres in and around Telegi village, Davangere District, Karnataka - 250 Km from Bangalore.  The organization of micromanagement farming activity is done through villages, segments, clusters and zones to facilitate excellent networking.
Each cluster is operated with a Lead Farmer concept. One farmer is identified to be trained in all aspects of Good Agricultural Practices and Good Collection Practices. His farm is developed as a model patch to demonstrate the culitivation, pest management and collection methods. A group of farmers are assigned to this Lead Farmer to translate the success principles to his peers.

It is a matter of pride that 90% of our farmers have stayed with us for over a decade! This exemplifies the trust and commitment Katra infuses into this relationship.

Dehydration

The Dehydration plant is in Davangere district, Karnataka, 250 Km away from Bangalore.  The plant housed in about 8 acres with facilities for ensilaging, dehydration and pelletizing.   The facility has a state-of-the-art drying technology to dehydrate the silaged flowers, using eco friendly producer gas as heating medium with absolutely no stack emission from the gassifier preventing the possible formation of PCB and PAH.

Solvent extraction
The Solvent extraction plant has a capability of processing 8 to 10 Ton of Marigold pellets a day.  The extraction works on the counter-current principle with variable bed height permitting excellent penetration and percolation of solvent for complete extraction under both hot and cold conditions.

The plant is designed for a total product recovery.  All necessary utilities for the smooth running of the plant are housed in the premises.
