Lutein

Other Research Topics
Lutein is chemically hydrolyzed form of Lutein Esters.  They are also naturally available in the free form especially in corn. In Marigold it is predominantly available with  Zeaxanthin. It is mostly available in Trans form.  The other form is cis form which is available in traces.
Importance of Lutein and Zeaxanthin

Lutein specifically absorb near UV blue light, predominantly comprising of UVA and UVB. Blue light especially visible blue light predominantly comprising of UVA and UVB is the most damaging wave length of light that reaches the retina. In retina, it is organized in such a way that light first pass through the highest concentration of Lutein (in Henle's fiber layer) before reaching the sensitive rod and cone cells thus protecting the retinal damage. As an antioxidant, Lutein can also inhibit the formation of damaging free radicals by quenching single oxygen.

Recommended daily intake

While no recommended daily allowance currently exists for Lutein as for other nutrients, positive effects have been seen at dietary intake levels of 6-10mg/day.  There are no other reported side effects on consuming higher doses of Lutein except for bronzing of skin..
About Us
With over 5000 contract farms, a Worldclass cGMP Compliant Manufacturing Facility in Attibele and dedicated Oleoresin Manufacturing Plants, we have complete control over the entire value chain.
Zeaxanthin: Zeaxanthin is a geometrical isomer of Lutein.  It is available in 3 forms, Trans- Zeaxanthin [3R-3R’], Meso-Zeaxanthin [3R-3S’] and [3S-3S’].
Lutein Ester: Lutein Esters is a form of Lutein having one or more fatty acid chain attached through the end hydroxyl groups of free Lutein.
